Don't waste your life

Starting Thursday 1st March we will be going through John Pipers book "Don't waste your life".

"Millions of people are wasting their lives pursuing dreams of happiness that don't rise above a good marriage, nice kids, a successful career, a nice car, fun vacations, nice friends, a fun retirement, a painless death, and (hopefully) no hell.
John Piper calls this a tragedy in the making. He argues that we were created for joy. We were designed to have one passion. In this book he describes his own journey toward this great, single passion. And He pleads that at all costs we pursue our joy in the crucified Christ, who is the glory of God. The cost is great. But the joy is worth any cost."

I know this post is late at coming up, but we'd encourage anyone who is coming on Thursday to place their thoughts, quotes and findings as comments here, for us all to share!

Indescribable

On Thursday 18th January Men's Fellowship is going to pull the curtians, turn out the lights, get the projector fired up, volume cranked full and with popcorn and dorito's watch the DVD of "Indescribable" a message by Louie Giglio!

This is a Christ exalting message;

The heavens are telling the glory of God, and their expanse declares the work of His hands.

Night after night they remind us of just how small we are, and how huge God is.

Looking out into the far reaches of the universe, we find a seemingly infinite expanse of mystery and wonder, intricately fashioned by a God of unfathomable size and power.

Just a glimpse of one of the billions of visible galaxies He has formed resizes us, shrinking us, and the world we call home, to seeming insignificance in an instant.

But as tiny as we may seem, the God who knows every star by name also knows yours, and mine. And in the most stunning rescue imaginable, God sent His Son to this spinning planet we call home--the Creator reconnecting us to Himself with life that never ends.

Indescribable takes us on an image-rich journey through the cosmos, allowing us to peer into God's universe to discover the amazing magnitude of His greatness and grace.
Come and invite your friends along on a Christ centered journey through the cosmos that began with Christ, reflects Him to us even today and ultimately ends with Christ!
It's going to be an amazing night before God!

Almighty

Between now and the next men's fellowship we are concidering one attribute of God; How He is "Almighty".
Pray through this, consider it before leaving a comment, write on a sheet of paper what it means to you, what this means in general and how it actually affects your life that God is almighty and how it should affect your living, then write a comment on it!

Only a few more days to search the riches and vastness of this aspect of God's character and who He is! We'll restart the New Year on Thurs 4th January.

Father we pray that You might reveal yourself to us in our thoughts of how You are Almighty. That as we think on this aspect of who You are, that we might see more of You, come to a better understanding of how great and glorious you truly are!
Help us to magnify You in this, (not as a microscope makes something small look beg, but as a telescope makes something look more like the size it truly is). We want to see You and Your Son in a more clear way, reveal your "Almightiness" to us that we might respond and say "God, Christ, Spirit; You are Almighty", knowing exactly what is meant by that!
Amen

Christmas Gifts

On Thurs coming (14th Dec) we are hoping to go into Lisburn with 144 wrapped copies of John Piper's book seeing and savoring Jesus Christ to give freely to all the teens and adults we can! For kids we were unable to find sound cheap material, so God willing they will get sweets!
Our main aim is adults, if parents are saved then they can influence their children for Christ, if teens are saved perhaps, oh God it would be great, if some of them could lead fathers and mothers, brothers or sisters to love Jesus!

Oh yeh did I mention our plan is to dress up as Santa or some other fancy dress, pray for wisdom in this, kids will flock to Santa and I think with adults being the goal we really need to think and pray about this!

In so many churches etc children will receive gifts, but parents and teenagers often miss gifts from the church! Well we aren't a church, but we are part of The Body and so in the Spirit of Christ we pray;

Lord on Thursday would you be pleased to recieve the rewards of your sufferings for Lisburn!

Baptism

On Thursday 30th November we'll meet to go through "Baptism".
The online study starts here!

Freedom

On Thursday 5th April 2007 we will be meeting together to discuss and pray about freedom!
"Who the Son sets free is free indeed"
But so often it doesn't feel that we are free, rather we feel that we arebound to sin and temptation! Upon thinking of Hudson Taylor and his
veiw of the exchanged life, (Read Here), and of the promises in scripture
that Christians are set free by the Cross!
Up to then we're going to comment our thoughts here, such a hugething deserves huge amounts of time and thought!
